Cheese!!

Hallie just added a new word to her vocabulary-- cheese!

Chris came home from work and walked into her room to get her up from her afternoon nap. The first thing she did was take an excited breath then she exclaimed "Hi Daddy!" It was the clearest sentence to date. (Normally it sounds like Hi Da-eee!") Next, while Chris was changing her diaper I asked her if she would like cheese for a snack. "Cheese?" she replied clearly. Then, when Chris sat her in her high chair and handed her the string cheese she said "Cheese!" with pleasure. And, might I add how excellent her "ch" sound is.

I know it is ridiculous how much joy I garner from her first words but they are precious. They are just a symbol of her growing up!

Other vocabulary developments lately include: Jesus (for one of our pictures of Christ), ducky (for her tub rubber duck), and doggy (for her pink stuffed poodle). All of these words she has surprised us with by pointing and saying them unprompted. It shows how much she is observing and absorbing.

I'm impressed with her vocabulary! It's so fun to see them learn and catch on to things. Today, I was telling Evan something and he looked thoughtfully up at me and said, "Oh, now I get it." I'm always surprised by the things that he picks up, and his comprehension.

How fun for your family! She is so expressive and from a speech therapist's point of view, Hallie is nothing short of a genius because the 'ch' phoneme is a much later developing sound! Way to go Hallie!

hey michelle and chris!
as i told neal and keri, i have been in *stalker mode* and found your blog through karen's. you guys look so happy! you're little girl is absolutely beautiful. i often reminisce of the days of sleeping in and dates with the newlyweds of our ward. i wish i took more advantage of it. my days are now filled as yours with pumpkin patch visits, cleaning up food from the floor, and of course tickles and giggles. congratulations on your family. i'm excited to see all of the next generations.
love, jenny
