Promise fulfilled

I have promised before that I would post pictures of our third bedroom and then never followed up. Since I am awake early on a Saturday morning (attribute that one to pregnancy) I thought now is as suitable a time as ever. Let me stress I am not claiming to be an interior designer. I have friends who are spilling over with this talent and some who even have four year degrees in it (Ashley!). I do like to decorate with what makes me feel warm, calm, and happy. This is what I hope you'll see.
The guest room/office . . . We could definitely use some pretty curtains in here (floor-length maroon shears?) and a side table with a little more character but I pulled this together with things I had on hand and it is totally "English Country Cottage" (so me). This makes me a happy cat-- I totally want to curl up and read. But I would grow really tired of it if the entire house was like this so I will segregate it to one room.
Here is the "office" part of the guest room. Our family office is kept in a separate room. This one is just make-shift for me. I do spend 28 hrs. a week as a working professional. (Let's not kid, I have the best job on earth).

I love this side-table arrangement. Hallie loves to sneak the chocolates. One time, my mother-in-law was making lunch and she asked what Hallie was doing. My toddler yelled upstairs "I'm eatin'!" as she scarfed two candies at a time with chocolate drooling down her chin and wrappers clenched tightly in her little fist and scattered across the carpet.
Here's a new set-up in our downstairs family room. This is another situation where I look forward to the bright future where I have a "spiffier" side table than the one pictured. I do, however, love the display. It is another one that makes me happy. My sis-in-law, Karen, designed and hand-stitched the custom family emblem. And I just got the starfish and clock for my birthday. I love that it can capture the California in me. I love Colorado, but part of my heart will always be in California.
